Pure soft tissue recurrence away from the site of primary tumour without osseous recurrence in a giant cell tumour is extremely rare. This is the only case we have come across in our experience of treating more than 100 cases. There are may references (Gilmer and MacEwen 1958, Henderson and Dahlin 1963) in oncological literature to the problem of recurrent primary bone tumours. But there is much less information regarding the problem of wound implantation of primary bone tumours resulting in soft tissue recurrence (Dahlin and Henderson 1956, Thompson and Steggal 1956).
