The author has covered most of the important subjects of orthopedics and traumatology. The due importance has been given to the basic as well as applied aspects of orthopaedics which enhances the understanding of the subject. Most of these topics have been supported with illustrations.

The section of general orthopedics dealing with structure and function of bones, joints and cartilages has been written with clear concepts. Similarly, other chapters in section one have been concisely written. The chapter on biomaterials and their properties gives an insight to the learner with a clear understanding of this difficult subject. Other chapters like imaging in orthopedics, operation theater accessories, gait abnormalities, orthoses and prosthesis have also been written concisely and precisely.

The trauma section gives edequate information to the undergraduates, It can be used as a revision tool for the postgraduates. Pediatric orthopedics section also covers most of the important disorders like neuromuscular disorders and Congenital talipes equino varus. The author's approach is uniformly similar in rest of the sections on spine, bone tumors, nerve injuries and joint disorders. The clinical examination written in the beginning of each section along with illustrations of the signs is going to be very useful for the learners. The interesting aspect of this book is the historical information about the great orthopedicians of different era, which reminds us about the great personalities.

This book will prove to be a good reading material for undergraduates and good revision material to the postgraduates.
