In 29 albino rabbits a circumscribed bone defect was produced in the femur. The periosteum around the defect was a) removed on the control side and b) autogenously grafted on the other side. In few experiments on one side the periosteum was removed and on the other the periosteum was reposited back. The results were analysed on the basis of a) radiographic b) macroscopic and c) histological examination. Free periosteal grafting was successful and produced abundant bone trabeculae. |
