Serum Copper & Zinc concentrations were estimated in 95 patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tubercular arthritis and osteoarthritis. It was observed that estimation of serum copper and zinc do not provide clue to the diagnosis of any type of arthritis, however they are an indicator of the severity of the underlying inflammatory process. The role of zinc supplementation in addition to specific anti-arthritic therapy has also been emphasized. |
