Severe intra-articular fractures of calcaneum result in broadening of the body of calcaneum leading either to calcaneo-fibular abutment, or narrow the gap between the tip of lateral malleolus and calcaneum producing compression of the peroneal tendons. One case of abutment and 5 of narrowed gap producing compression of peroneal tendons were having pain postero-inferior to the lateral malleolus along the peroneal tendons. They were treated successfully by excision of the non-articular portion of fibula.
