A 'Freshening' Operation For Delayed Union

Creation of a fresh and a continuous haematoma, and inflammatory reaction in and around the vicinity of the site of ‘delayed union’ was achieved surgically. It proved highly beneficial in cases of closed tibial shaft fractures. All the 9 cases treated by freshening operation showed clinical as well as radiological union within an average period of 8 weeks.
