Thigh lacer was used in 28 fractures of the shaft femur in 28 patients. It was made up of polyethylene high density sheet according to the measurement of the individual’s thigh. Union occurred in all the cases and function was far advanced by the time clinical and radiological union occurred. Thigh lacer provides stabilizing influence at the fracture site allowing uninterrupted fracture healing and negligible movement at the fracture site. It gave gratifying results in the fractures of the middle and lower third of femur but not in the fractures of the upper third femur. Thigh lacer was not found detrimental to the fracture union.
