Anterior cruciate ligament was reconstructed using intraarticular semitendinosus tenodesis procedure in fourteen knees in same number of patients. Twelve of them including 2 females were sports-persons. Principles for an effective reconstruction and subsequent rehabilitation programmes were drawn up based on the biomechanical considerations and the process of structural transformation of the substitute ligament. Both on subjective and objective assessments the results of the reconstruction in all the 14 cases were found to be uniformly good. Eight of the 12 sportsmen were able to return back to their respective sports.
