Although osteoarticular tuberculosis is a disappearing problem in many affluent countries, yet, in the Eastern hemisphere of the world, where more than 60 percent of humanity lives, this still poses one of the major public health problems. Nearly one percent of all varieties of tuberculosis in man occur in the skeletal system. The major areas of predilection in most of the series are in the following order, spine, hip, knee, foot, elbow, wrist, shoulder and other (Tuli 1975, Silva 1980).
