Early results in 60 cases of discectomy done by the fenestration technique in lumbar discprolapse have been reported. The technique has been found extremely satisfactory for disc excision. It has certain distinct advantages over the more commonly used procedure of laminectomy and disc excision. 93.3 per cent good to excellent early results have been achieved in the present series. These have been attributed to proper selection of patients and meticulous surgical protocol.
