Sarmiento (1967) and Mooney et al. (1970) reported on effectiveness of lower extremity prosthetic principles applied to casting and cast bracing techniques in fractures of tibia femur. Mooney et al. (1970) and Moll (1973) advocated ambulant treatment of femoral shaft fracture by cast brace and called it physiological method of treatment. The purpose of present study was to determine whether cast bracing technique would allow patients to achieve even earlier ambulation than had been possible before and perhaps a period of hospitalization too.
